Whether hanging out of a helicopter, skimming the treetops, or lying on his belly, looking up at buildings through a super-wide-angle lens, Peter has developed some very unique ways of photographing and producing award-winning images. He thrives on the creative and technical challenge of finding new angles and techniques to produce captivating imagery that works for his clients.
Peter has project managed large-scale photographic assignments and been involved in every aspect of the process, from inception and concept development, through to execution and delivery of final print-ready digital images. This has been done through coordinating clients, locations, logistics, models, professional sub-contractors and service industry people. His studio is highly regarded for its technical competency, especially with digital technology development and core software applications such as Photoshop and collaborative software suites. Peter Hassall Photography services many of South Africa's leading corporations, institutions, property developers, architects and construction companies, and is one of the only studios that employs technically qualified photo re-touchers and post-production professionals. Peter has been the Chairman of the Gauteng Professional Photographers for the last 11 years. He acquired his first camera in 1972 at age 12 and 1983, he self-published a book using the first digital scanning suite in SA. He was one of SA’s first Multimedia developers and was the first person in SA (1994) to produce a 1Gb digital photograph.
His “Panoramic Roadscapes” are in the magnitude of 20Gb images and he continues to push the boundaries, both creatively and technically. He lives in Johannesburg, on, in and under, Melville Koppies, with a wife, four children and two dogs.
